In the colder months, adding in layers in most of your home is super straight forward; Tossing cozy throw blankets and pillows on your beds, sofas, etc! However, the kitchen isn’t as simple! Adding in cozy touches in the kitchen requires a bit more creativity than the rest of your home. So, here are some great options that can help you bring a more warm, inviting feel into your kitchen in the colder months! Keep reading for fun ideas to curate your own cozy kitchen for the fall and winter!

1. Kitchen Lamps

I’ve been seeing little kitchen lamps everywhere! For the cold months especially, these add in a warm glow which creates a comforting ambiance in your cozy kitchen. From a design perspective, this is also an opportunity to bring in colors from your seasonal palette as well as unique shapes for visual interest. I’ve linked some below that are cordless, making them more safe for a kitchen!

2. Wreaths on Barstools

When cozying up for the colder months, extra detail and texture definitely add charm. In the kitchen, we have to get creative in choosing where to add detail and texture. The back of a barstool, while not an expected choice, is the perfect place to hang a sprig of greens or mini wreath. You could even consider adding a silk or organic fiber bow! The natural textures of soft greens and other earthy tones are inviting elements that can promote a comforting ambiance. How beautiful is this photo by @stefanasilber on Instagram? The combination of the earthy greens with the natural velvety bow adds such gorgeous texture to her kitchen!

Here are some mini faux wreaths that would be great for executing this decor addition to your kitchen barstools!

3. Coffee, Tea, or Cocoa Bar

A coffee, tea or cocoa bar can be such an inviting addition to your kitchen in the gathering season, because it invites guests to indulge and feel comfortable! This is such a great way to incorporate your personal decorating style as well through selection of mugs, jars, spoons, syrup dispensers, etc! This is such a fun project to curate and truly, it doesn’t even have to take up too much counter space!

When I think about hot drink bars, I immediately think about @jensgatheringnest on Instagram! She is simply the queen of executing a stylish coffee bar for every season of the year! Check out this one below she just made for Christmas last year!

4. Chunky Knit Hand Towel

Whether you hang it on a cute wall hook, drape it over your dishwasher or oven handle, or have it hanging on the cabinet under your sink, almost everyone has a place for a cute hand towel. In fall and winter, just like throw blankets, you want to opt for cozy, chunky knit options. I’ve linked some great affordable options below to help you achieve a cozy kitchen! I’ve linked some from Etsy below that will help you achieve that cozy kitchen feel!

5. A Hand Illustrated Rug

While a rug may seem like an obvious choice, my tip is to avoid artificial cookie cutter patterns and opt for something with a more organic print. My favorite rug company is Tumble! Their rugs are washable and have hand illustrated designs, which brings that organic feel to your space! Check out my full blog post review Tumble Rugs: Washable Rug Review for more details!

6. Dishwasher Curtain

When I first came across this DIY video linked below, I was so surprised! Both surprised I had never heard of this idea before and also surprised by how beautiful it looks! A dishwasher curtain is yet again another opportunity to bring in texture, color and print to pull together the other elements of your cozy kitchen. This DIY makes her kitchen look less bland and more cozy and inviting.
