Simple Changes, Big Impact

Let’s be honest, most laundry rooms aren’t exactly the most exciting room in the house. But, that doesn’t mean they can’t be transformed into a luxurious space that feels inspiring. With these 5 changes, you can take your laundry room from “just a place to wash clothes” to a room you truly enjoy being in!

1. Tidy Up

Start by removing visual clutter on top of the machines and shelves. Consider what items should and shouldn’t be visible and implement cute storage solutions for the items that must stay in the laundry room. Below, I’ve linked some affordable options from Target for bins, baskets, containers and trays.

All in all, by clearing surfaces, hiding clutter and only keeping the functional items on display (in a styled way), the laundry room will instantly feel more elevated and intentional.

2. Swap Light Fixtures

Replacing old or builder grade light fixtures for something more your style can bring a custom feel to the space. Light fixtures are often thought of as the jewelry of the room so this is really your chance to get creative and bring in something unique.

This laundry room below from @eyeforpretty on Instagram is a beautiful example of an elevated laundry room with a unique light fixture.

Whether you have a hanging light, wall sconce or a flush mount, you have an opportunity to make any one of those a statement piece! To save some searching, here are some options I love (from a few of my favorite furniture & decor stores) that can change the entire mood of the laundy room!

3. Swap Hardware

Once again with the goal of stepping into a more custom look, personalizing your laundry room with handpicked hardware instantly adds character. Added bonus, you can typically do this project yourself (of course if you feel you need a helping hand, any handyman should be happy to help with this).

My favorite place to look for unique hardware is always Anthropologie. Below are some of my favorite picks!

4. Consider Cafe Curtains

Cafe curtains can add such a feminine touch to a laundry room which is otherwise a very function based room (which can sometimes end up looking sterile and boring). My absolute favorite place to source cafe curtains is Anthropologie. Below are my absolute favorites! Even if you opt for a subtle, neutral color there are beautiful stitching details or bow details than can really add a unique touch an elevate your laundry room.

Check out how @megangieber on Instagram utilized cafe curtains in a unique way in her laundry room! So, even if you don’t have a a window, you can still get creative with cafe curtains!

5. Add a Washable Rug

It’s no secret that I love my Tumble rugs! Tumble rugs are both pet and kid friendly, as they are OEKO-TEX certified and free of harmful chemicals. Also, their hypoallergenic low-pile rug helps avoid the collection of dust and pet hair. It’s worth mentioning as well that vacuuming your low-pile rug is no problem, just be careful to not vacuum the sewn edges of your rug (they do not recommend robotic vacuums because they don’t know to avoid the sewn edges).

Another admirable quality of the rugs is their hand drawn designs. This artistic process allows their design selections to be unique and mindfully curated. Tumble also offers free shipping as well as free returns which always ensures extra peace of mind!

Lastly, they will assist you in rug selection. Their website includes a rug size guide page where you can get a pretty good idea of what size you need, or if you need further help they have an AI feature to assist you. If you have a difficult time deciding which rug design and color will look best in your space, don’t worry. Tumble has a complimentary design consultation feature on their website where you can ask a designer which rug is best for your space. They simply have you answer out a few questions, upload a photo or two of the room and a designer will reach out to help you. If you feel pretty confident in your selection but want to double check, you can even order a swatch before ordering your rug.

Below is my Lisa Grey & Multi rug which is such a beautiful neutral that has both warm and tones in it. Feel free to use my link for 10% off with the button down below!

Small Changes Big Impact

Making your laundry room feel fresh and welcoming doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. A little tidying, swapping out light fixtures or hardware, adding cute café curtains, and a cozy washable rug can totally transform the space.

Even small changes make doing laundry a little more enjoyable and who doesn’t love a room that’s both pretty and practical? Give one (or all) of these ideas a try, and watch your laundry room go from “just functional” to a space you actually enjoy spending time in.
