The three main focuses for refreshing your bed for spring are switching to lightweight materials with maximal airflow, implementing cooling technology & lightening things up with a fresh spring color palette.

Switch Up Textiles

When considering bringing in new fabric materials for the warmer months, it’s best to focus on temperature regulation. A few factors that affect temperature regulation of bedding textiles are their weight, breathability and ability to eliminate moisture. Three materials for your spring bed refresh that perform well in each of these categories are linen, cotton and bamboo.

Cotton

Parachute home has a wide variety of cotton sheet and full bedding sets with a high quality feel and beautiful colors to choose from. This fitted sheet set on the far left is in the color Bone. Made in Portugal from 100% cotton. Cotton is a great choice for sheets in the spring and summer because not only are they lightweight, but they are also soft to the touch and breathable. The three colors below (left to right – White, Clover & Bone) are flexible neutrals that could be paired with a lighter neutral, muted color or white comforter for the warmer months following your spring bed refresh.

Linen

The next material of choice is linen. Linen sheets & duvet covers look so dreamy and luxurious layered on a bed. Linen allows for laying when you select a “lightweight” option. Linen is also very durable and even tends to get softer after each time washing it. These MagicLinen Duvet Covers from Urban Outfitters come in 15 gorgeous colors, but these three (left to right – Striped in Natural, White & Dusty Blue) our are faves for the warmer months! Also, the MagicLinen duvet cover comes in Twin through California King sizes. The benefit of selecting a duvet cover as opposed to a comforter or quilt is that you have control over the weight and thickness of the insert you fill it with. A budget friendly option is to select a duvet cover with a color that works for all seasons & layer in a second duvet cover during late fall and winter for extra fluff and warmth and remove the extra duvet insert during your annual spring bed refresh.

Bamboo

Lastly, bamboo is another great alternative bedding material for the warmer months. For added texture without much extra weight or warmth, this PiccoCasa Viscose from Bamboo Breathable Soft and Lightweight Thin Blanket is the perfect laying piece. For the warmer months it can provide a well styled, layered look without trapping heat in. The breathable viscose from bamboo fabric should keep your bed feeling both cozy and breezy.
